The development of lomography

Lomo camera is a special artistic photography was created by a couple of students in the 1990s. After it was created, the exhibition spread in Moscow, New York, Vienna, Berlin, St. Peterburg, Havana, Tokyo and many other cities, which appealed over 100,000 lomographs been shown. The wide extent and scale built an international reputation for this new art. The spontaneously lomography related socio-cultural movement has been encouraged by the marketing of products, like photo fashion, photographic accessories, Lomographic books etc. The lomographic Ambassadors in different regions organizes various activities, such as exhibitions, parties, shows, tours, publications, art projects internationally or locally, as well as support world-wide events, films, musics.

In the 1990s, the function and aesthetic of photography were influenced by the visual effect of lomography. Nowadays, there are over 500,000 lomographers in different countries. Some of them like Brain Eno, Laure Anderson, David Byrne, Pulp, Moby, Robert Redford etc. are very famous in lomography field.
A cultural institution with a commercial photographic and design company accelerate the lomographic movement in this information age. www.lomography.com is a website created to facility innovative projects and interactive communication among lomographic fans. The first lomo film project LOMO TV.1997-2001 A Series of Global Events and competitions were presented.

With the fast development of lomography, the maximum production of 3000 hand-assembled pieces per month cannot satisfy the demand of customers from all over the world. In order to make the distribution fairer, the lomo institution spreads lomos to the countries where have lomographic Embassies(30% USA, 35% Europe, 35% Asia).

In 1997 the first Lomo World Congress is launched in Madrid, the second was launched at the Cologne Photokina in 1998; the Lomolympics 2000; the LomographicSamplingGames 2001.1998 Cologne, New York.
